UNC PhD student Emily O’Brien received the last rose from Ben Flajnik on episode four of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” securing her a spot to Puerto Rico with 10 other contestants.
O’Brien, who is seeking her PhD from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, exchanged harsh words with model Courtney Robertson and clued bachelor Flajnik in on her concerns about her fellow contestant.
After Robertson received the group date rose, O’Brien worried that she was going home for telling the bachelor her opinion of the model. Luckily, the last rose went to the UNC student and she will continue on in the competition.
The women who received a rose were:
- Blakeley
- Casey S.
- Courtney (group date rose)
- Elyse
- Emily
- Jamie
- Jennifer (one-on-one date rose)
- Kacie B.
- Lindzi C.
- Nicki
- Rachel (one-on-one date rose)

This week brings the women and the bachelor to steamy Puerto Rico, where the previews showed Robertson getting down, dirty (and naked) with Flajnik as they skinny dip in the ocean.
It seems there may be more drama ahead on episode five Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
