Several of Reese News Lab’s ventures hold periodic workshops for industry partners, both in Carroll Hall at UNC’s School of Media & Journalism as well as around the country and via video conference. Contract Product Development
Our Emerging Technologies Lab, led by associate professor Steven King, works with companies from a variety of industries to build prototypes and production-quality emerging storytelling experiences. For local news organizations, this fee-for-service partnership is available on a limited basis thanks to the generosity of the Knight Foundation’s funding of UNC’s Center for Innovation & Sustainability in Local Media.

.Reese News Lab offers companies student-led consulting on journalism innovation projects, primarily through our summer media innovations fellows program. Through the Knight Foundation’s funding of UNC’s Center for Innovation & Sustainability in Local Media, five students work in local newsrooms each summer to help organizations on everything from strategy to digital product development.
